Athena Elea is a brand new luxurious villa, built using our family's old stone warehouse as a basis. It carefully blends traditional elements with modern aesthetics and comfort. The villa promises to be the perfect place for relaxing, exploring, and getting a taste of real Cretan life.

The interior of Athena Elea includes 3 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a living room/dining room and a kitchen. Throughout the villa's space, modern style meets selected elements of the family's tradition, including wooden hand-crafted furniture and century old textiles made by our own great-grandmothers. The villa's 1600 sqm plot features millennium-old olive trees, a swimming pool (40 sqm) and plenty of space for relaxation and family activities. A unique feature next to the villa is a small renovated shrine, built by the owner’s grandmother in the mid-20th century. Right next to the villa’s plot, we maintain a 4500 sqm organic orchard, in which the guests are welcome to take walks and explore seasonal fruit trees and vegetables.

The villa is situated 24 km from the Chania International Airport. Renting a car is always a good idea, as it will allow you to comfortably explore the diverse beauties of west Crete. The charming city of Chania is a 8km drive towards the northeast from our location, while the highly popular coastal touristic village of Platanias is a 6km drive towards the northwest. The villa has its own private parking space (fenced drive-way) in its premises, which fits 3 cars. There are also bus services to/from Chania and to/from various villages in the broader area, with the nearest bus stop being located only a 3' walk away from the villa.

Athena Elea is located in the heart of Crete's most fertile valley, near the water springs and man-made lake of Agia. The villa is ideally placed for exploring the diverse charms of Crete, being a 10' drive away from the sea, 10’ from the mountains and 10’ from the beautiful city of Chania. The options are endless, with literally several dozens of beaches, villages, and mountain hiking areas being accessible within a relatively short drive from our spot - towards the north, south, west or east. Prominent examples include the beaches of Platanias (10' drive), Gerani (10'), Agioi Apostoloi (12'), Agia Marina (12'), Kolymvari (18'), Falasarna (45'), Balos, (60'), Sougia (60'), Peleochora (70'), Elafonissi (80'), the scenic mountain villages of Meskla (12'), Zourva (20') and Therisso (35'), and the world-famous Gorge of Samaria (40') (one of the 10 National Park areas of Greece, the only one in Crete). A 12' drive from the villa, one can also visit the unique Botanical Park & Gardens Of Crete. For times when our visitors prefer to enjoy nature without using a car, there is a network of quiet local walks around the villa, through the endless orange, olive and avocado fields, some of them leading to the Agia lake, where guests can relax and have a picnic under the huge plane and eucalyptus tress. The Lake is a protected wetland site, notable for both breeding birds and migrants. There are super-markets, cafes and restaurants a short drive away from the villa, and we can offer plenty of recommendations for restaurants, short trips and experiences in the broader area.
